You read that image correctly. I am running the Chicago Marathon 2013. I am crazy. However I have the Soldier Field 10 mile race and the Chicago Womens Half Marathon coming up soon. I am raising money for team bright pink. I have to fund raise a minimum of $750. So if you want you can start donating maybe 5,10, or even 20 to my registration page! I have been really busy with school.

The reason why I joined team bright pink is because breast cancer affects almost every woman in their life. Luckliy no one in my family has had breast cancer but a neighbor of ours lost her life to breast cancer a while back. I hope that by raising money through team bright pink it will help find a cure faster!

How am I going to train?

Well part of team bright pink every saturday starting in June there will be long runs. To say that I am nervous is an understatement.

Right now my goal is to raise 250 by the end of June! Anything will help. I know that I have some amazing running friends who have ran marathons and my family to support me along this journey! Once school is over I will make my own training plan.

Have a great night everyone!

PS Mom don’t freak out!

12 May

Hey Everyone! Happy Mothers Day! :)

So my friend and I have this inside joke of funny memes from Kim Jong Un here is one that cracked us both up!

So this Week’s Workouts were pretty good!

Lets Recap!

Monday: I did a 1.5 mile HIIT workout (daily mile likes to round things up which sort of irks me but what can you do?) then I did 5 weight machines at the gym. Shoulder Press, Tricep Dips, Arm Extension, Row/Deltoid Machine, and Chest Press. I also did 3 planks that I held for 90 seconds and a variety of ab exercises.

Tuesday: I ran at Swallow Cliff out in Palos Park. It was a perfect day to run on the trails. They were hilly. I managed to run 3.2 miles in 30:50. I had to run another 1.3 to make it 4.5 and that took 13:00 minutes. So I ran 4.5 miles in 43:50 not to shabby especially when its rolling hills and 80 degrees out! 9:44 min/mile

Wednesday: I did this really cool workout from a blog called pbfingers It involved 5 minutes of running in between sets of various shoulder, bicep and tricep exercises. I managed to run 3.5 miles in 33:00 minutes which was a 9:25 min/mile.

CardioArmsWorkout

Thursday: Was an off day

Friday: I did my full body workout that I posted earlier this week. I warmed up with 14 minutes of running on the treadmill. It was about 1.5 miles in 14 minutes. 9:20 min/mile

CWHM Training Week 5 (review)

22 Apr

So Week 5 of Half Marathon Training was not the best of training weeks. I didn’t do my tempo runs like I wanted to. I know tempo runs make me a stronger runner but I was not feeling up to it when it was time to grind out those miles. Oh well, this week is a new week!

This week I did a lot of biking!

Monday: 1.5 mile HIIT Workout ( I did 1 minute at 6.0 mph 1 minute at 8.0 mph)+ Weights and Arms

Tuesday: 4 miles in 39:00 9:50 min/mile

Wednesday: A really intense spin class. It was only 45 minutes but I was averaging a 30 mph bike pace. I dont know how accurate that is but my gym had a fancy bike mileage calculator. I also ran 2 miles after my spinning class and boy it hurt. I ran 2 miles in 10:00 minutes

Thursday: 4 mile run 38:20 9:30 min/mile +Abs I was going to do legs but lets face it my legs were screaming and my behind hurt.

Friday: A much needed rest day.

Saturday: I took a 60 minute Spin Class at SPINClub in Mokena! I averaged about 16 miles.

Sunday: 6 miles at WaterFall Glen! I love waterfall glen its such a gorgeous preserve! Unfortunately my phone has died and I am too lazy to charge it to show you pictures of the trail and my run today! I will post them tomorrow. The best part about this run was that I maintained a pace that was under 10 minutes! WOHOO

6 miles 59:00 minutes 9:50 min/mile

Running Miles: 17.5

Biking Miles: 38

I am running The Human Race in Downers Grove this Saturday as part of my 5k race thats on my training plan.

Boston Marathon Bombing

18 Apr

Image

It has taken me a while to write a post about my feelings towards the Boston Marathon Bombing on April 15 2013 at 2:40pm (EST). I remember I was at my internship when I got a text from my mom telling me that there was a bombing at the marathon. I immediately felt panicked and scared. I knew that some bloggers were running Boston and I was praying that they were ok. They are all fine.

The incident in Boston is very tragic for everyone in this country. Not only has it affected our morale as a country but it has targeted specific community called runners. We runners always get knocked down but we get up again *no pun intended*. The people in Boston will rise up from the ashes and they will unite together again.

In the past few days however I have read so really horrific racist tweets on twitter here is an article that I found.

http://publicshaming.tumblr.com/post/48093470152/two-explosives-went-off-at-the-boston-marathon-on

Reading these tweets made me sick to my stomach. I have middle eastern friends, I know people who are “brown” and I know people who practice the Islamic faith. The Boston Marathon Bombing was a horrible tragedy but this, this is not making us better as a country.
